Description
Snail 5. This was a snail I 'caught' on a nice calm morning enjoying a little morning dew on its favorite plant. It was a pleasure to catch a peek at a beautiful creature and then go on my way.
A single snail enjoying the calm of an early morning. Snails belong to the class Gastropoda, a classification that includes; sea snails, slugs, freshwater and of course land snails. Snails' ancestors are one of the earliest known types of animals in the world. There is even fossil evidence of primitive gastropods dating back to the late Cambrian period. This means that snails have lived nearly 500 million years ago. The most popular snail that many are familiar with is simply called the garden snail. You can often see 'snail trails' shining on sidewalks proving that although they are typically in hiding, they were once right there.
I personally am fascinated with snails and try to capture their beauty whenever I can. A fairly recent popular children's movie has also helped solidify their fascination among many including both children and adults.
